What is old -fashioned?

Old -fashioned is probably one of the most classic and oldest cocktails, and in some respects it resembles many alcoholic strokes that have been served in England and America before the real start of the cocktail. Reference to old -fashioned data until 1806, but the drink did not receive its current designation until the 1980s.
