What is Anise?
Anise or Aniseed, which has the scientific name pimpinella anisum , is a herb that comes from the family apiaceae or carrot family. This herb is the best known for its aromatic seeds. The taste of the seeds resembles the taste of fennel, which comes from the same family; or liquorice that comes from another plant family. History
This plant could come in Asia, but since then it has spread to Europe, North Africa, the Middle East and North America. The ancient Egyptians and the Romans used it as a spice. This is also used throughout history for healing purposes and for its fragrance.
Description
Like other members of her family, anise is a tall plant with grim green leaflets. It grows to a height of 1.5 to 4 feet (46 to 122 cm). Flowers are white and fruit that looks like ribbed seeds and is often referred to as seed, is gray-green or elevenish-brown when mature.
