What is Arrack?

Arrack is a type of alcohol produced in Asia and parts of the Middle East. Traditionally, it was made of fermented palm sap, although ingredients such as rice, other grains, sugar cane and molasses can also be used to produce beverage. This drink is quite popular in Indonesia and in parts of Sri Lanka and some recipes for mixed drinks call special for Arrack because it has a distinctive taste. Do not confuse this alcohol with arak , a beverage in the Middle East made of raisins; Arak has a taste like an anise, similar to the Greek ouzo .

The history of this drink is probably quite old. The historical documents and works of ancient art show the phases of production and the drink was well introduced until it was introduced by European traders and explorers. Like other hard liqueurs, you will be planted by fermenting the primary component and then by distillation of the result. The liqueur has a taste similar to rum, accompanied by gold. Some producers are proud to be strongly and clean alcohol with excellent flavor, while others focus on making as many drinks as possible, sometimes at the expense of finished delay.
