Like other commercial oils, coconut oil is processed and sold in different ways. Raw or unrefined oil was pushed out of coconut but was not treated. Also known as "extra virgin", it is the purest type. The refined oil was treated to the extent that it has no taste or odor. Hydrogenated and fractionated coconut oils are also available.
