What are coconut shrimp?

Coconut shrimp is a type of coated shrimp. As the name suggests, it is covered with coconut before cooking. These shrimp are usually soaked in beaten eggs before rolling into coconut. This helps to ensure that a reasonable amount of coconut sticks on the shrimp. Recipes for coconut shrimp sometimes differ and the bowl can be consumed in several ways. Then it is deep fried or roasted. Unlike other types of coated shrimp, it is usually a bit sweet, with the taste of coconut.

Some variations on traditional coconut shrimp are rather simple, but others add several other ingredients. Spicy coconut shrimp can be made by adding cayennep to mix. Sweet shrimp can be made by adding honey or sugar to the egg mixture.
