What is Spargel?
Spargel is a German word for asparagus. In Germany, Spargel is usually grown in conditions that inhibit photosynthesis, which means that asparagus spears are more white than green. The Germans claim that their Spargel is sweeter and more tender than green asparagus, and the asparagus season is the cause of a great stir in many parts of Germany. People who have the opportunity to visit Germany at the end of spring can enjoy various dishes made of this vegetable and participate in the general asparagus of madness that grab some parts of Germany.
Asparagus is known in Germany as "royal vegetables". Traditionally, it is grown in covered cloches, so when Spears protrudes above the ground, they do not start photosyntrying in the sun.
