What is Halvah?

Halvah is a confectionery in the Middle East, which is also widely produced in the Balkans. Many Halvahu variants are produced, but the primary recipe includes seed, walnut or grain, ground sweetener, such as honey or brown sugar, and flavored with ingredients such as rose water, saffron, dried fruit or nuts. Halvah is a popular sweet treatment in the Middle East and often appears on banquets and festive occasions. Some versions of Halvahu are so heavily sweetened that they can be almost painful to eat, while other variations are slightly aligned. Each cook has variations on the traditional Halvah recipe used in its part of the world and countless combinations of taste is considered acceptable. Sesame Halvah is made with a tahini base, mixed with honey. Some chefs divided the dough in half and mix half with cocoa before mixing back, creating a rich marbled chocolate sesame Halvah. Other mOhou dough roll in pistachios, other nuts or dried fruits.

In India and neighboring countries, many chefs make Halvah with crushed wheat on semi -moon. Wheat is mixed with honey and butter or oil and drove into the dough before the dried fruit or nuts are added. This Halvah has a different texture than Sesame Halvah and tends to be more like a rich pudding. Other variations on Halvahu are also made with other seeds, such as sunflower seeds or vegetable ingredients such as carrots and pumpkins.

To create a simple sesame halvah, warm up two cups of honey to approximately 240 degrees Fahrenheit (115 degrand Celsius) until the soft ball is reached, which means a teaspoon of syrup falling into cold water forms a soft ball that will be removed. Mix thoroughly one and a half cups of tahini to integrate excess oil that could float to the top and warm upT to 120 degrees Fahrenheit (50 degrees Celsius).

Fold Tahini into a honey mix and turn the warm matter onto the oiled plate to see it. Heno gives Halvah a light, scaly texture. When the mass is well moved, push it into an oiled pan and allow it to cool completely before cutting. If you want to add nuts or other flavors, mix them with honey before adding tahini.
