What is humite?
humity is a type of cooked corn bowl that originated in Central and South America. Each country has its own version of humita, although all varieties use the ground maize base wrapped in corn skin and baked, steamed or cooked until they finish. Corn can be flavored with sugar, cinnamon or milk to create a sweet, desert snack, or may have added onions, cheese or hot peppers to create a more substantial food. Some other ingredients include eggs that help to solidify corn, anise for taste and lard or butter. Depending on the type of humita it is made, it can be eaten as a breakfast with toast or bread on the side, or as a lunch food that is served with coffee and maybe hot sauce. While humidity can look like tamale, it's actually quite different. While tamale can use soil, dried corn flour or flour, humites use fresh corn and rarely, if at all, include meat like ingredienwhose. They are also baked in corn peels, while Tamales can be cooked in corn skin, but often cooked in banana leaves that lend a different overall taste.
No matter what other ingredients, the production of humite begins with corn. The recipe requires the use of corn, which differs from sweet corn used in other parts of the world. Corn is drier and stronger than sweet yellow corn common in North America. The corn cores are either removed from the ears and placed in a kitchen robot, or they are grated directly from the class to the bowl. At the same time, the cubes are stored for packed the dough later.
The other folders are then added to the dough. Milk, butter or lard is often mixed with corn to help choose IT.
