What is lace Swiss cheese?

Swiss cheese Lacy is sometimes mistakenly called baby swiss. The reason for the confusion is that children's Swiss cheese looks very similar to lace Swiss cheese. Both cheeses are marked by smaller and predominant holes than traditional Swiss cheeses made in Europe, such as Jarlsburg, Emmthaler and Gruyere. Yet lace Swiss cheese is not European cheese and is instead an American product with a significant difference in taste and ingredients. The main differences between lace varieties and mostly other Swiss cheeses in addition to appearance are ingredients. Like many Swiss varieties, Lacy Swiss is made of cow's milk. Instead of being made of whole milk and occasional cream, the varieties are made of low milk.

The taste of lace differs from especially its European counterparts. Swiss can have mild, creamy and sometimes sharp tones. You will notice it especially with cheeses like Gruyere and Jarlsburg. On the other hand, the lace Swiss cheese is mild and has a greater similarity to the cheeses like MonterEy Jack and Provolone. It can have a very mild taste of nuts, but does not resemble the sharpness of thicker cheeses. It is a little softer than European Swiss cheese, although it is still well slices.

If you are looking for the right Swiss taste in a bowl, lace Swiss cheese is not the best choice. Especially if you plan to melt Swiss dishes like quiche, you need sharper notes Gruyere or Jarlsburg. On the other hand, if you want a slight cheese taste without much calories, Lacy Swiss can be a perfect choice. Consider the use of lace Swiss on the sandwiches, the upper hamburgers for the patty melt (this will melt very well because of its low fat content), or for the excellent Sandwiches.
