What is the lemoncello?
As long as the actor Danny Devito recognized his heavy consumption of the Italian liqueur Limoncella the night before performing at the talk show ABC , very few Americans even heard of lemoncell, let alone the opportunity to taste it. Limoncello is a popular digestive or drink after dinner, usually served ice cold in small ceramic cups. Lemoncello components are quite simple: lemon essence, sugar, water and clear grains. Only the outer horse of the lemon is used to create an essence, not the pulp itself or the fruit itself. Once the lemon peel is collected, it is located in a clean glass container along with strong pure cereal alcohol, such as EverClear, PGA, Italian grappa or occasionally vodka. Lemon and alcohol from grain can steep undisturbed for at least two Weeks. The content of lemon peel and grains is tense and poured into a new container. To complete homemade lemoncella, a simple sugar mixture is added to alcohol filled with lemon. This mixture is then placed back on a cold, darkA place for at least three weeks of aging, with everyday agitation to keep the ingredients well mixed.
After the third week, homemade lemoncello can be inserted into smaller bottles for administration. Limoncello is traditionally stored in the freezer until it is served to the guests. Even ceramic cups used for lemoncello administration are kept in the freezer to keep the drink as colder as possible. Limoncello is one of the most popular alcoholic beverages served in Italy, but it was only recently available as export. Upscale restaurants around the world can offer their customers a lemoncello, but many people prefer to create their own home versions, because the ingredients are easy to search and the preparation is quite simple.
