What is Mecado?
Mechdo is a beef bowl that is often served with rice. Traditional recipes consisted of ladated strips of beef in the sauce, while the modern version tends to be more like steamed meat. The sauce usually consists of tomatoes, soy sauce and calamansi , which is a small citrus fruit with acidic taste. It can be prepared with a wide range of meat spices and cuts. Mechado is the most popular in the Philippines and is similar to several other beef dishes such as kalderata , adobo and kare-kare and sneaks to the container, and devil, and to the neutral and container. Most modern versions of the recipe are more like simple beef. Kare-Kare has a dramatically different sauce, which consists mainly of peanuts, vegetables and beef, but has a similar consistency and is prepared in a similar way as steamed.
