What is Merlot?

Merlot is undoubtedly one of the greatest red grapes. Merlot is widely responsible for the prevailing tastes in most wines from the Bordeaux region in France. It creates what is probably the most spicy red wines, and thanks to this fact it has enjoyed a significant amount of popularity - as well as some criticism. Outside Bordeaux in France, it has its own in most regions, especially as a core of much cheaper wines in the Languedoc. In California it is grown as one of the main five varieties of red wine and is used to create some truly spectacular wines. The state of Washington in the United States can also boast some exceptional Merlot grape products, despite some weather problems. Northern Italy and Chile also used grapes well and excluded some of the most complete examples of Merlot, anywhere.

Merlot is probably the best compared to Cabernet Sauvignon, with which he shares a number of characteristics. While both have a high content of tannin, Merlot has tIf the tendency to create considerably sweeter wines. This sweetness helps to counteract tannins in younger examples, so Merlot makes Merlot much softer than ever hard young wines Cabernet Sauvignon.

Merlot is best described as a relatively velvety texture, with a fair amount of spices and fruit that move wide depending on a particular growing place and weather, even if they take care of plum. For many people, Merlot is the best choice for simple, poor wine drinking that attracted a number of comparisons between him and Chardonnay. It tends to be somewhat interesting without being too complicated, smoother than a comparable Sauvignons, and generally can be drunk at a younger age, while still aging Well and leading to some of the impressive longer wine.

Merlot has seen a recent decline in sales after a somewhat undeserved attack by a character in the popular cult film sideways . In the film, the character excuses that he leaves the event he participates if someone orders Merlot. This is most likely due to the perception of some experts that Merlot is a "simple" wine in a pejorative sense, best left to those who do not know how to recognize more complicated flavors.

There is also a blushing wine made of Merlot grapes, usually known as White Merlot. This wine is similar to white zinfandel and is made in the same way - allows only the shortest contact with the grapes of the grapes. Most wine lovers are also handled in the same way that it is more or less a waste of otherwise good grapes by reducing them to wet, less interesting wine.
