What is Mescal?

Maybe the most famous drink based on Mexico is from the plant Agave: Tequila. But there is another drink from Agave, one much less known, but equally strong. Mezcal is commonly associated with the Mexican state of Oaxaca, although it is produced in several different areas in Mexico. It is equipped with many different flavors depending on what types of agave plants are made. In general, it is any distilled liqueur derived from the Agave plant that is not a tequila.

Mezcal is usually doubled distilled to create a rich taste and then age. The longer the liqueur ages, the darker it becomes. Young mezcal, or jove , is almost clear and has no stronger tastes that have more aging versions. Reposado Mezcal means that the liqueur was between two or three months to a year, and Anejo Mezcal ages a year or longer and produces the strongest flavors and deepest color.

Sometimes the bottles Contje in it worm or larvae. Now they are mostly marketing tools, but believedthat they add nutrients to the liqueur. They also add some taste to the liqueur, but the worm is usually considered a marketing device playing on the already established product perception. Unlike general beliefs, worms are not added to tequila, because such practices are forbidden in Mexico; The worm is characteristic of the mezcal.

This alcohol is made of Agave Corazon or hearts, which are also known as pineapple or piña plants. Harvesters cut large leaves of the plant and collect the heart after the plant has ripened for six to eight years. The heart is then formed in the porridge after cooking and crushing. Rum is added to the water together with sugar and is left to ferment up to a month. The liqueur is then distilled according to the above time images.

Mescal has a taste similar to tequile, but usually is stronger and somewhat harder. Tequila tends to be a smoother drink. In Mexico, Tequila and Mezcal are considered very much aboutDišné drinks, although they are made of the same plant and have similar tastes.
