What is Mujaddar?

Popular in the lower class, Mujaddara is a cheap food that combines caramelized onions with rice and beans for a unique taste. Depending on the region, Mujaddara is also called Mejadra , Moujadara or Mudardar .

In the Greek versions of Mujaddara shallots are added immediately after a caramelized onion.Then the rice is cooked by spices in a pan with onion and shallot. The lens is cooked separately and is added to a mixture of rice after both completion. Lemon juice and enthusiasm are mixed before serving. Parsley or coriander is generally used as an ornament.

Mujaddara is sometimes accompanied by yoghurt sauce. This sauce usually consists of Greek yoghurt, lemon peel and juice and mint. It can also have a range of spices such as cumin, coriander, cinnamon and spicy pepper. To create the sauce, the ingredients are simply mixed together.
