What is Papeda?
Papeda is one of the basic foods in Indonesian cuisine and is usually consumed for breakfast; Papeda Porridges, also known as Sago Conge and Bubur Sagu, replace rice in daily meals on little islands in East Indonesia and in Papua -Nové Guineji, regions where rice is not easily cultivated or available. Instead of growing rice people in these parts cultivate Sago palms; The trees are felled when the tree trunks are cut in half longitudinally to make the pulp present inside the suitcases. This part of the trunk is scraped and beaten with a conical tool, sago whipped cream to get saga flour. Until it is needed to produce a papdy, saga flour is traditionally stored in containers called tumang; Tumang containers are made of woven palm leaf.
sago flour can be purchased at many supermarkets; In Indonesia and Papua -nové Guineji is often sold to food sellers doorsthe door. The process of producing papals is quite simple and includes only mixing saga flour with water and heating the mixture until it boil; The mixture must be mixed for cooking. Some salt, sugar or pepper can be added to the mixture to give it a taste. After a while starting to cook, the mixture begins to coagulate and transform the viscous. When the mixture has changed and sticky, the papeda is ready.
Papeda generally does not fit in itself, but like rice, along with different attachments. It is commonly consumed with soup or sauce made of tuna or other locally available fish. It can also be eaten with a roast fish ball called Kohuhu. Soup, sauce and baked fish are usually cooked from salt, turmeric, spices, soybeans, onions, lime and coconut. Soy and chili sauce can also be served with papeda.
Eat papedo in itself does not do particularly nutritious food as a sago, although it is known to be rich in carbohydrates, has a relatively low protein, vitamins and minerals; For comparison, rice, wheat and cornŘICE have a much higher level of protein, vitamin and minerals. Porridge is almost always consumed with various nutritional vegetables, fish and masses, and therefore regular consumption is not a matter of concern and does not bring any health problems.
