What is porilainen?

Porilainen is a popular food served in Finland, which is in northeastern Europe. While the term porilainen cannot be directly translated into English, an approximate translation would be a sausage hamburger. This food looks like an American hamburger or hot dog, but is traditionally made of pork sausage than beef.

While little is known about the origin of this food, many believe it gets its name from the city of Pori. Others say it was named after Hampurilainen or Hamburger. In the Finnish language, these two terms sound very similar, which leads to speculation that this burger was simply named after a similar looking hamburger.

Some people in Finland follow the history of Porilainen back to the mid -20th century, when the university students eagerly found abundant and fulfilling food that they could quickly prepare and consume relatively quickly. Students and local restorers began to place strong slices of grilled sausage bread between twoTasty and portable food. This recipe also allowed students to grill sausage in their dormitories or student housing on small grills they used to cook.

Today, anyone can buy porilainen from many Finnish street sellers. This meal is also popular at fairs and festivals and makes fast and comfortable food or snack for anyone on the go. It contains only basic ingredients and can be easily created regardless of cooking skill.

4 This sausage generally comes from pre -wrapped pork sausages, but Bratwurst can also be used as a replacement. Grilled onion or spicy sausage is also popular in this bowl.

As soon as the sausage is grilled, it is located between two slices of bread to make a sandwich. This meal is almost also served on white bread, even though sour rye and malt breads are much more popular in other Finnish areascaught. Porilainen is always served on slices of bread and never on cakes or roles for hamburgers. It can be served on two slices of bread from the same loaf or two different varieties for taste and texture.

While this sandwich can be tasted or poured in many ways, garlic aroma is strongly tied to Pivilanien. The dinner will then design salad and tomatoes, a sweet raw onion and cucumber. Some people also use spices like ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise.
