What is Rommot?

Rommot is a traditional Norwegian food that has existed for hundreds of years. The term ROMGROT stems from the root words "Romme" and "Grot". Romme, which is freely translated into a "strong sour cream", is paired with a grot, which literally means porridge. These puddings or porridge based on acid creams are often served as a dessert, they are quite rich in taste, because primary ingredients are cream, flour, butter and salt. Although Rommot is still a Norwegian tradition, it is often served throughout the world like Christmas food. This meal is often described as a hybrid between adhesive cetars and oatmeal and is culminated in or drizzled with honey, syrup or cinnamon and sugar. It is sometimes served as a special breakfast. Although it is traditionally reserved as a holiday dessert, it is more acceptable to consume this meal in the summer or all year.

Altohough was popularly believed that the Vikings were the first to enjoy Rommot is probably false. But it is true that this Norwegian dessert was usually consumerIt was overshadowed during the wedding and other different special events, festivals and holy ceremonies in Norway. This is often described as a jazz version of porridge, hair or pudding. Thanks to such common and usually cheap main ingredients, this recipe has persisted for hundreds of years.

For a stronger Romm, the chef must add more flour to the recipe. The chef can soon find out how strong it could be ROMGROT, because spoons of flour are loaded into a creamy mix when they cook on the hob. It is quite fast to produce and usually served warm, shortly after cooking.

Although it may seem surprising, this dessert is traditionally administered with Norwegian cured masses such as specimen, healed lamb or ham. Vannkringle is similar to the American pretzel.
