What are Schnapps?
Schnapps is a spirit distilled from fruit such as pears, apples, peaches or cherries. The real German Schnapps does not have added sugar and is not particularly sweet, even if it bears part of its source fruit. The French eau de vie is in many ways analogous to this spirit, with its subtle fruit flavors.
Although the real Schnapps is simply distilled fruit juice without added sugar, the word is often used - especially in the United States - to refer to something quite different. This type, really more like a liqueur, usually has a significant amount of sugar and other flavors added and is quite sweet as a result. Some types, such as Butterscotch Schnapps, are not distilled from their taste source - Butterscotch distillation would be quite difficult - but instead use basic alcohol and add taste. Even many American schnapps that could be distilled from fruit juice such as vodka. Rarely is found in higher evidence than this even if notusual to find varieties at 30% alcohol (60 evidence) or even lower. This spirit is often drunk in itself, clean or ice and various flavors are used in a wide range of mixed beverages.
cannot be said without much exaggeration that there are as many tastes of Schnapps as soda flavors. While some, such as peach, apple and icing, are derived from real fruit juices - or at least they could be used to make a traditional process - others such as cinnamon and peppermint, no source in the world. Other, such as Butterscotch and root beer, are even more attractive. Due to their relatively low price, uncomplicated sweet taste and avoided stupidity about them are sweet Schnapps the basis of many mixed drinks. Although rarely seen in traditional or more serious mixed drinks such as Martinis or Manhattans, they abound in different flavors with names,Like hot mint patty, slippery nipple, fuzzy navel and guillotine.
