The yogic diet is basically vegetarian and focuses on the balance between different types of food based on how quickly these foods are digested and the type of energy that they are assumed to produce in the body. Foods are divided into categories of satt food, rajasic foods and tamasic foods. Satvic foods - fromLenina, nuts, grains, fruits, beans and certain herbs and spices - are the easiest to spend and provide the most often available energy. Rajassic and tamasic meals are "slower" foods and should generally prevent them because they are assumed that they interfere with the overall function of the body. Although it may seem extreme, this approach to vegetarian eating is quite healthy for most people and can help maintain heart health, reduce cholesterol and help in weight loss.
