What is Yaka Mein?

originally Asian food, yaka mein took over Cajun influences and is a popular spicy soup and noodle soup in the United States, especially in New Orleans. Although the exact origin of this dish is unknown, it combines Asian influences with the soul of food in the taste of the American south. Yaka Mein is also called old sober, is reportedly a good hangover axle.

The exact origin of this food is unclear. Two prevailing theories include Chinese immigrant workers who introduced food in Louisiana at the end of the eighteenth or at the beginning of the nineteenth century, and returning veterans from the First World War who developed a taste for similar Asian food overseas. Other theories state that in fact were veterans of the Korean War who brought knowledge of food. Any theory is correct, it seems clear that Yaka Mein has its roots in Asian cuisine, but over the years it has been filled with a taste of cajun.

Although almost any meat, even shrimp, can be used for the most common option is aka mEin, beef, common chest or roast chuck. Noodles are usually included with simple spaghetti noodles, but again almost any type of noodle can be used. In most versions there is a green onion and boiled eggs and some types of spices of Cajun or Creole are also a normal accessory. You can also add or use ketchup, hot sauce, soy sauce or worcestershire sauce. The liquid base is usually beef broth or supply in combination with water.

To create Yaka Mein, broth or stock and water are combined with selected spices. Then the meat is added and cooked for two to three hours. Then the meat can be removed and crushed or cut. The noodles are cooked separately, simply cooking in the water until they are fine, and the eggs should also be cooked in their shells to cook. After noodles, meat, broth and eggs cooked hard are executed, food can be assembled.

The grade of the selection, usually soy or worcestershire sauce, is sprinkled at the top, then the whole food can be decorated with chopped green onion. However, there are some small variations in the position. For example, some versions pour the broth after adding eggs or wait for the sauces to be added until the green onion is included.
