What is Manchester Tart?

Manchester cake is a dessert that consists of a bread bark topped with a layer of raspberry jam, spreading with pudding and decorated with sprinkled coconut. It is a traditional dessert in British cuisine that tends to consist of simple meals with several ingredients. It is assumed that the cake came from at the end of the 18th century in Manchester, England and is often served to children at English schools as part of their lunch meals. Short Crojad bread has a stronger, tiny texture and richer taste than other types of pastries due to large amounts of butter compared to flour.
