What is a meta?
Metate is part of a brushed tool known as Metate Y Mano . Metate is the lower, solid half of this cut tool that is used to create a hard surface for crushing grain and many other foods. Metots are originally meso -Americans and are now still used in Mexico and parts of Latin America; Sometimes they are available on markets that specialize in Mexican kitchen equipment and can be expensive. The upper part of the album has a shallow depression that is formed over the years of wear. If you want to use metate, someone will disperse the grains into this depression and then overturns Mano, rounded cut stone, back and forth through metate. This movement backwards and back is the grain smoothly and evenly. However, the cut action of mortar and thickness is slightly different. Mortars and Pestles are also used in Latin American cooking in the preparation of specific meals, but for things such as grinding maize for tortillas and mixing Mexican chocolate, it is a preferred grinding tool.
learning to use metate can take some time because it requires the development of strong muscles at the top of the body. Metates are traditionally used by women and after years of use, very strong upper weapons and back develop. Women usually sit or squat on a metat and create as much leverage as possible for grinding so that the food is effectively stored.
Some examples of historical metates can be seen in museums that specialize in meso -American artifacts. Some of these metates are relatively old and show clear signs of decades of use; Since Metate Y Mano is made of stone, it will potentially last for centuries, to the pleasure of archaeologists. It is also possible to see festive and decorative metates, which are used in some Latin American cultures for special occasions.
If you buy a new metate to make a meso -American meal at home, you must taste it before use. TOThe stem usually begins to soak overnight and then the day of drying. Then grinds white rich in metate until it turns into a fine gray powder. Discard the strength and crush the fresh dose of rice; Continue until the powder you are producing, white, suggesting that the fragments of free stone have been removed from the methacus. Some people like to complete the spices by grinding in a mixture of spices such as salt, cumin, pepper and garlic.
