What is Dhauti?
dhauti is Shatkarma or Shatkriya, a type of yoga used for detoxification. It is divided into four parts. There are three types of Hida or heart, Dhauti: Danda, Vastra and Vaman; and four types of antars or internal dhauti: Vatsara, Varisara, Vahnisara and Bahiskrit. Then there is a dantess or teeth and moola tag or rectal cleaning. Each of the processes is complicated and requires proper movements and location. For this reason, consultations with a qualified yoga teacher are necessary before attempting these techniques.
Vaman dhauti is the process of placing the stomach with water to clean the intestines and treat the conditions of the gallbladder, stomach and neck. It is best to make Vaman Dhauti in the morning before breakfast. A teaspoon of salt is added to a liter or more lukewarm water and is quickly consumed as possible. At this point, vomiting is caused by inserting the fingers down into the neck while keeping the horizontal and inclined forward. The vomiting is caused until all water is removed.
VASTRA is a method used to clean the stomach and esophagus. The long stripe of cotton gauze is soaked in water or milk and then swallows. It is then pulled slowly, the process that removes all the bearings on the stomach wall. During Dandy Dhauti, one drinks a lot of water and then a special rubber tube is inserted into the neck and stomach. By bending forward, the water is siphone from the stomach. The combination of Dhauti practices is part of Yoga Hatha, which advocates cleaning the digestive and respiratory tract. This relieves the body of excess mucus, bile and toxins that are responsible for many diseases. Anyone suffering from certain existing Conditions, such as ulcers, hernia, heart disease and high blood pressure, should not practice Antar Dhauti.
