What is dried beef?
dried beef is also known as jerky beef that can be prepared in a row - some laborious and others easy. With a dedicated dehydator or even just a wind area and patience, traditional jerky can be produced in half a dozen ethnic styles, from a pioneer and an indigenous American Pemmik to Italian and South African. Others prefer the devotee to allow it to tear, as well as another type of intensively processed dried beef, which comes in a container known as fissioned beef. This second protein is the peak of the infamous American military dish called creamy beef above the toast.
The jerky beef style is made for several months if it is properly salted and stored with the right amount of moisture. First, lean beef is cut, lightly pounded and flavored with a mixture of spices such as garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, honey and pepper flakes. Before the spiceHarm bacteria, cooks also drop the meat into a pot of boiling water for a maximum of 15 seconds - a process called Blanskin.
After spending the meat all day in marinating the refrigerator, it can become a tasty dried beef in several ways. One way is to put slices on the dehydrator stands that can complete jerky in less than one day. Another modern way to obtain a traditional jerky tasting is to bake pieces slowly in the oven set at its lowest temperature. The pieces are not placed on the leaf, but instead suspended from the upper stand on the oven by a belt that are glued over one end of the slices. To avoid actually cooking meat instead of mere drying, the chef Celebrit Alton Brown recommends stacking slices into the coffee filters and then connect the piles over the bungee cord to the front of the running box fan. It will take longer to dry out the meat, but retains more taste and texture.
Stipped beef is perhaps one of the more iconic types of dried beef. During World War II, these processed dried meat slices were used to feed soldiers with food called creamy beef above the toast. According to the USS Little Rock website, the navy recipe includes the addition of a slice of dried beef to the boiled mixture of flour, milk, pepper, butter and worcestershire sauces, which is then poured on toast or English muffin.
Although dried beef is the highest, other proteins are regularly used to produce these long -term treatment. Common substitutions are game, Turkey, Buffalo, Elk, Moose, Bison and ostrich. Each produces a slightly different taste and texture.
