What is drum drying?
Drying drum defines the process used in the food industry to remove moisture from the trap, puree and liquid with rotating, heated drums. The procedure transforms wet food products into flakes or powder that the consumer can rehydrate. The drum drying uses an accurate combination of steam pressure, temperature, rotation speed and product thickness to maintain taste and color. Food manufacturers usually use drums to make potato flakes, powder milk, baby food, dehydrated soups and some breakfast cereals. The process can also turn apples into apple sauce, but the drum drying is a challenge due to the high sugar content. Drying the drum keeps enough starch, along with additives and stabilizers, in the production of immediate potatoes.
Potatoes are washed and peeled as the first step in the dehydration process. They are then cut and cooked to form a paste. The puree is applied to the outer surface internally heat drum, which removes most of the water content. UsualCage evaporates in seconds, allowing the terminal product to be removed from the drum through the scrapers.
A device used for drying usually uses one or two cylinders made of stainless steel or cast iron that rest on the frame. Depending on the intended use, the dryer can be purchased with individual drums, double drums or twins. Individual and double drum dryers are most often used in dehydration of fruits and vegetables.
drying one drum, usually used for potatoes, brings the puree to the outside of the drum. The double drum drying uses two cylinders that turn towards each other and are commonly used to produce tomato pastes. The distance between the drums determines the thickness of the food layers. The driers of the drum turn apart, which dust controls dust during the food drying process.
Vacuum drum dryer works in a simper fashion but uses low temperatures for foody that could be damaged by extreme heat. The drums on this type of device are sealed inside the vacuum chamber and represent a form of dehydration considered expensive. The synce of the steam drum is a more effective method of dehydration food products.
Drying drum began to be used at the age of 90 before the techniques of drying techniques were developed. Drying of spraying exposes food with a high content of moisture to hot air inside the machine that quickly removes water. These newer machines allow temperature adjustments for different types of food and the size of the required particles.
