What is Kosher JELL-O®?

Kosher's meals are a substance that coincides with certain Jewish diet laws that have to do with both the type of food and how it is ready. Any food that is marked as Kosher must correspond to these laws. JELL-O® gelatin desserts are not produced using kosher ingredients, so there is no Kosher JELL-O®. However, there are other gelatin products that are produced according to the law of Kosher, and these rabbis are certified as kosher meals. However, although it can be made of plant products, most of the time gelatin is made of animal bones and skin containing collagen, a substance that is the basis of gelatin. If the animals used as a source of collagen are not kosher, gelatin is not kosher. Kosher JELL-O® does not exist because the gelatin base is not made of kosher ingredients.

Originally, gelatin was made at home. Women had to cook hoof calves and bones for hours, then let the liquid stand for about 24 hours. Once the liquid ofCooling, the fat rose to the surface and was blasted and discarded. The remaining liquid was tense, then mixed with sweetener and flavors and left to create a gelatin dessert. Around the mid-18th century, gelatin began to be produced commercially and at the beginning of the 20th century JELL-O® gained popularity in most of the United States and Canada.

Because Jello-O® is produced by rendering animal bones and hiding regardless of the Kosher state of the ingredients, there can be no Kosher JELL-O®. Other companies produced by gelatin products that are certified as Kosher are cautious to use only Kosher ingredients. Many of these gelatin are made of plant products, which eliminates any concerns about whether they are, because all types of plants are acceptable under Kosher law. Others are made only of kosher ingredients based on kosher and never include by -products or parts of pigs from other non -pole animals, creating kosher gelatinIny similar taste and texture to other products on the market, but without the possibility that they could include unacceptable ingredients.

Some JELL-O® boxes have a small "k" on them, with a circle, which leads to many people to the belief that it is Kosher JELL-O®. It seems that the logic behind it is that even if the product includes pork bones and hiding, they do not represent meat and are therefore not unclean. Some also claim that the chemicals used to process collagen change it so much that it is acceptable under the Kosher Act. Not everyone agrees that such processing is created by Kosher JELL-O®, so for those people who want a truly kosher product, it is best to buy products that are certified as kosher, and so eliminate any doubt.
