What is Llappingacho?

Llappingacho is a well -known food from Ecuador in South America, which, when translated, means "cheese omelet". The food consists of two main ingredients - potatoes and cheeses. Potatoes are porridge and are made to patty, which is then filled with soft cheese. It is mainly made with potatoes, but Llappingacho can also be made using pancakes. Patties or pancakes filled with cheese are cooked until golden brown and are usually given as a side dish or appetizer.

It is no wonder that potatoes are one of the main components of Llappingacho. Potatoes were grown for the first time in South America by people of the Incas. While Inca Impire was inhabited by Ecuador, her people developed ways to preserve potatoes and also discovered various techniques for its preparation. The popularity of the bowl soon spread around the Highlands of Ecuador and eventually went to the provinces in the eastern Ecuador and along the Ecuadorian coast. As a bowl, people who visit from overseas have soon discovered and since then Llappingacho has been cooked in different landsh around the world.

Preparing Llappingacho is not difficult if the right ingredients are used. It is important to use potatoes that are starch, such as reddish -brown potatoes to ensure that they hold together, and the cheese that is soft and trading for filling. The first task in preparing Llappingacho is to cook potatoes until they are soft and can be porridge. Once the roasted onion is added to the potato mixture, which is then left to cool. After cooling, it rolls into the balls and in the middle is produced small dents and filled with soft cheese.
