What is Majarete?

Majarete is a type of pudding. This was called a traditional Dominican dessert, a traditional Cuban dessert and a traditional Puerto Rico, so there is certainly a dispute about which country this pudding really originated. There are also some differences that Majarete contains, and the Puerto Rican version is quite different from Cuban and Dominican versions. Traditionally, you would use fresh grated corn to get corn taste, although there are also recipes with corn icing. Since the corn meal thickens better, the recipes that contain can be easier than recipes that contain fresh corn. Puerto Rican Majarete does not contain corn, but instead is a mixture of coconut, milk, sometimes rice milk and sugar. Both versions can contain cinnamon, vanilla and can be served with a little cinnamon.

Although called, there are many Majarete fans who enjoy eating pudding at breakfast. Some people on food blogs prefer extra production to be left next morning.Whether it is a dessert or for a morning meal, this pudding is quite popular and considered a great comfortable meal. If you are looking for Majarete in restaurants in the US, you will probably find it in many authentic Dominican, Cuban and Puerto Rico.

There are some complaints when the recipe requires corn, because American corn is not as sweet or tastes as its Dominican counterpart. If you use fresh corn for the recipe, look for sweet white corn. Some recipes advocate the use of cream corn, which also provides sweeter taste. Others consider coconut tastes stunning, but it again depends on preference. Some recipes on the Internet are extensively commented on the primary comments is that Majarete will not thicken. A good design to help with the amplification process is to use a corn flour -based recipe or add a small amount of corn starch to the pudding.

Perhaps the easiest way to produce Majarete is to buy it in molds with powdered packages produced by Goya® and easy to find in Mexican and Latin American food stores. It is very similar to buying boxes of JELLE® PUDDING, which often require only a small amount of cooking time and adding milk. For freshly made dessert versions, you will have to do some experimenting with recipes to find the one you enjoy most.
