What is Mumbo sauce?

Mumbo sauce, also called mambo sauce, is a type of spice, which is usually served in Washington and its surroundings, D.C. Although there are many variations, it generally has sweet and sour sauces that were married with grilling sauce or hot sauce. Spices are often served with foods that have been fried, grilled or smoked, especially chicken. The regional nature of the sauce, as well as its popularity in Washington, D.C., led to the development of several commercially available products, some of which are made by local restaurants in the area that produce sauce daily. The origin of the Mumbo sauce is unclear, although it is at least several decades old, with some stories attributing its work - and the related registered trademark - to the grill restaurant in Chicago and others claim that its roots are in restaurants in Washington, D.C.

virtually all restaurants serving Mumbo sauce keep their recipes proprietary secrets, which makes it difficult to build sauce at home. SomeThe ingredients that can contain different sauces include ketchup, pepper, hot sauce and octa sugar. After the sauce began to become popular in the Washington area, it was accepted by restaurants that served other types of kitchen, especially Chinese restaurants that have modified Mumbo sauce to better combine with the Asian meals served. Over time, the sauce developed and began to integrate many elements, so some mumbo sauces included ginger and other spices, although sometimes they have a significantly different taste from what is considered to be the original sauce.

Although the exact ingredients in any mumbo sauce are not known, one approximation has been recorded that will very closely capture the taste. This includes mixing the same amount of sugar and ketchup with pepper, vinegar, vinegar based on hot sauce and water. This creates a sweet sauce that has some acidity and heat. The mixture is shiny and somewhat strong, although some accounts report that the original sauce had a much thinner texture and resembled more simpleHé mixtures of ketchup, hot sauces and vinegar.

In restaurants, mumbo sauce can be served on fried chicken, grilled ribs, fried rice and other Asian meals. It is often served in small cups, so it can be used as a sauce for fingers such as egg roles and fries. The sauce can also be found in bottles or other containers, so it can be poured into sandwiches in a style similar to other spices. Mumbo® is a registered trademark SELECT BRANDS LLC.
