What is punk rock yoga®?

Punk Rock Yoga® is a philosophy of yoga protected by copyright created in 2003 Kimberle Jensen Sedl. Jensen Sedl, based in Seattle in Washington, launched a class to provide an alternative, individualistic approach to yoga that removes part of the rigidity and uses live music and unusual classrooms. Jensen Sedl, drawing inspiration from Kundalini and Hatha Yoga, proposed a program because she wanted to change the traditional approach that Dour and Rigid. The music of many different genres accompanies classes, including live performances. In this and many other respects, the class should limit the stereotypes of traditional yoga and attract a wider audience. Even when choosing the name Jensen Sedl, he hoped to point out that there was no reason why a hard rocker could not be a fan of yoga. To avoid self -criticism, the lights are deliberately muted and the classrooms have no mirrors. Instead of a typical formation with advanced students in front and beginners in the back, classes are held in a circle, aby promoted unity. Founder Jensen Sedl emphasizes that the use of partner poses as team work can promote confidence and comfort between classmates.

Establishment of comfort is important for Punk Rock Yoga® because it includes the individuality of its students. When presenting pose yoga, instructors offer variations that help people of all sizes and levels of skills. Teachers often include time for every freeform lesson, hoping to experiment with positions will lead students to self -knowledge.

Another common way to integrate individuality into the Punk Rock Yoga® class is a chanting exercise called Mantra Anarchy. In this practice, the instructor chooses a basic concept, such as strength, and each student chooses his own word that embodies this idea. The class then sings their individual words simultaneously. This practice is assumed to help students feel more personally connectedwith the concept presented.

Jensen Sedl insists that yoga aim is not to achieve a perfect figure or lose weight. Punk Rock Yoga® is rather than emphasizing the advantages of the beauty of positions, combining the physicality of yoga with spiritual wisdom. Exercise such as singing and meditation on yoga concepts helps to balance two aspects. In addition, Punk Rock Yoga® claims that there is no correct way to make a physical pose and encourage testing your own ideas.
