What is starvation mode?

Starvation regime concerns the slowing of metabolism, which can occur when the body receives too little daily calories for a longer time. Modern theory of the metabolic starvation regime is assumed that it is based almost exclusively on a scientific study, which is often referred to as a study in Minnesota. This study, carried out in 1950 by research worker Ancel Keys, documented the effects of starvation of the diet on a group of healthy young men with normal weight for six months. The study concluded that when the daily calorie intake is reduced to at least half of the normal requirement, the base of the base may slow down. It can be expected that people working in starvation regime will continue to lose weight, but lose weight somewhat more slower than in a person with normally functioning metabolism and can be expected to experience general lethargy.

fears onaring your own weight loss procedure by her too littleDaily calories and transition to starvation mode can be common among dieters. Keys's research seems to have shown that daily caloric deficits must be serious and must be expanded in the long term to trigger physiological changes that cause metabolic slowdown known as starvation. Experts believe that this regime serves a biological purpose because it allows the human body to survive during the famine period, even if the physical fat stores are small. The Keys study suggests that the starvation regime usually does not start until the individual reaches the percentage of body fat less than six percent, for a woman or less than five percent, for men.

The physiological mechanism that leads to the starvation regime is assumed that it relies on the action of the hormone known as Leptin. The body fat cells normally exclude leptin. Blood leptin levels usually help to monitor the range of physical reserves. Lower calorie intake and increased weight loss can reduce leptin levels by reducing the number of fatsEntile cells secreting leptin in the body. When the percentage of body fat drops below the minimum necessary level, the reduced leptin levels indicate the brain to start the metabolic slowdown process.

Hungry mode normally does not prevent further weight loss. The weight loss continues in most cases, although it is generally slower than the dieter that is not in this state. People in starvation regime can also experience a serious lack of energy because they are unlikely to receive calories they need to perform normal everyday activities.
