What is the king of the dancer?

The King dancer pose is an advanced pull of yoga that requires balance and flexibility and can be divided into four elements. This position begins by standing on one leg, holding the ankle of the opposite leg and pushing the leg back behind the body. To balance the movement, the free arm is raised forward. The raised leg then rises higher, so the leg is placed above the head. This position is ensured by bringing the free arm around the head and grapping the opposite forearm.

In order to start the first part of the king dancer, the student should stand with their feet located under the hips. Then he should put both hands on the sides of the hips. Next, it should lift the left leg up in front of the body and bend the knee so that the angle between the upper and lower legs is about 45 degrees. Finally, the student should bend his leg up and let his left arm slowly fall off the hip and down to the side of the body. The student should stop here to concentrate his balance and take a few breaths.

In the second movement of the king dancer, the student should catch the outside of the left ankle and slightly pull up and allow the left knee. The tail bone should then be slightly pulled forward. Furthermore, the student should raise his right hand until he is parallel to the floor with his palm facing up.

Gradually, the student should incline his body forward and at the same time pull the leg up behind his back until the hind leg is parallel to the ground. The stretched arm and the upper body should balance the leg. This is the end of the second part of the pose of the king's dancer and it is a good place to stop concentrating and breathe.

During the third element of the pose of the King of the dancer, the left leg is gradually lifted above the head, so the knee is an almost even with the left shoulder. To help keep the balance in this section, the student should lock his view of the subject directly forward and push his weight down into the heel of the right foot. Once the leg is fully lifted, the student should pause to feel the section and breathing.

The last part involves lowering the left leg while lifting the chest and lifting the right arm above the head. Furthermore, holding the left hand on the left leg moves to the fingers, while the left elbow moves up to point to the sky. The right arm reaches behind the head and grabs the left forearm. The student pushes his leg up and out and then stretches his legs, chest and back. This position adheres to breathing, stretching and balance.

To complete the position of the king dancer, both hands are released and the arms are stretched and circled over the head and returned to the hips. The student then reduces his left leg until the knees are side by side. This position is held for a moment and then the left leg is stretched up in front of the body and then down to the ground. After a short rest, this routine repeats on the other side of the body.
