What is Treacle?

"TREACLE" is a British word used to describe a sweet syrup that is created to specify sugar. The syrup is actually a by -product of the process and is created from what remains behind when sugar crystals are removed. It comes in a series of colors and it can be anything from quite light to extremely dark. It is commonly used as a component in desserts such as cakes, it can also be poured into food as a topping.

The light instruction is produced during the first cooking of cane juice. The lightest variety of this syrup is almost clear, with a gold shade similar to honey and is often called "gold syrup". This form has the lightest taste and is usually what is required in many different types of treacle recipes.

When the sugar cane syrup passes through the second cooking, the resulting syrup is much darker and stronger. In some countries, such as the United States, it is called molasses; In England, however, it is referred to as either simple Treacle or as a dark instruction. This is the diversity most oftenused in baking such gifts as gingerbread, and often add to hot cereals or consumed on bread.

The last step in refining sugar, when the last of the crystals are removed, resulting in a very dark syrup. This syrup has little or no sweetness for it. Typically, this product is no longer considered a treacle, but instead it is called the Blackstrap molasses. It can be used in human foods and is popular as a healthy diet in some areas, but most often, black molasses are added to the animal feed as an animal supplement for livestock.

One of the reasons that Treacle is as popular as the sweetener is that it retains many nutrients that refined sugar no longer contains. Refined sugar does not contain any vitamins or minerals. The refining process itself is largely responsible for removing nutrients from sugar and therefore many of themHo in the syrup.

TREACLE also has approximately the same number of calories per spoon, 16, as refined sugar; Unlike sugar, however, it is rich in iron, calcium, phosphorus and magnesium. The calcium that contains irons the absorption of iron, but the calcium itself is beneficial, as well as the other minerals it contains. Those who are worried about the empty calories of Sugar could consider it a suitable alternative sweetener.
