What is vegan pesto?

vegan pesto is a variation of traditional pesto, which does not include any components derived from animals. In most recipes, it means to replace cheese. Traditional pesto is usually made of grated hard cheese, such as Parmigiano-Reggiano or Pecorino, while the vegan version would eliminate this component because it is an animal product. Although it is believed that Pesto came from Genoa, variations of red and green versions are found around the world. Garlic and pine nuts are pounded by thickness or processed until they are reduced to the paste. This mixture is added leaves of basil and coarse salt. The ingredients are ground together to the cream, and then the cheese and small olive oil are integrated.

Many different types of nuts and vegetables can be used to produce vegan pesto and Z ZAhrowing of nutritious food into a picky diet. Replace spinach and parsley for basil and use walnuts and nutritional yeast to reduce fat and increase nutritional value. Other vegan variants may require coriander, pumpkin seeds and chili powder. The possibilities are almost endless.

Some traditional and non -ouital versions are naturally vegan and need not be modified to meet vegan dietary requirements. For example, the native variations for Provence are called piston and is made only of basil, garlic and olive oil. Italian versions inspired in Germany and Peru eliminate cheese and incorporate black olives, mushrooms or spinach.
