What is transversus abdominis?

transversus abdominis, also known as transverse abdominis, is the deepest of the four muscles together as the abdomen. This muscle, which wrapped up the intermediaries as a corset, is not visible as the "six packs" of the abdominal muscle rectus, nor well known. However, it is necessary to maintain an upright posture and for proper breathing, and is therefore important for the function of the core.

Found under rectus abdomen, outer oblique and internal oblique, or, the transversus of the abdomen is wide and flat with fibers that are horizontally running.
