What is Mango?
Mango is a tropical fruit that originated in Southeast Asia. Food historians believe that mango has been grown for more than 4,000 years in the areas in which it was originally found. It is now grown in most countries with tropical or close tropical climate. There are more than 100 different types of mangoes, but the most popular in the US are the species imported from Mexico and South America. The fruit has an average length of five inches (12.7 cm) and weighs an average of one pound (approximately 0.5 kg).
