What is an elimination diet?

Elimination diet is a type of restrictive diet that is used to identify food allergies or intolerance. Patients usually embark on an elimination diet under the doctor's council, although some people can experiment with such a diet to see if they can identify the main causes of their health problems. Food allergies can cause a wide range of symptoms, including intestinal problems, heartburn, hives, rashes and breathing problems; When eating an elimination diet, the patient can identify foods to prevent it in the future.

There are two methods for performing an elimination diet. In the first case, people are slowly downloading foods that are commonly associated with food intolerance such as wheat, chocolate, dairy products, nuts and acidic fruit. The food diary is carefully stored and the patient ensures record of all symptoms. Between each download may cause at least a week, which ensures that only one meal is responsiblethe characters. When the change is experienced, the patient knows that the latest food removed from the diet is probably responsible.

The second technique is to start with a very bland, ordinary food food that probably does not create symptoms. The patient slowly adds food back and records what it eats and what symptoms are experiencing. Five days to a week are allowed between each re -introduction to ensure that symptoms are isolated. When symptoms appear, the patient knows which food is responsible and can avoid it in the future.

While many people combine allergies to food with serious reactions such as those experienced by people who are allergic to nuts, these allergies can also be very fine. Some health conditions, such as celiac disease causes symptoms. Because the elimination diet is very demanding, doctors do not recommend them lightly and impress the importance of holding the diet ontheir patients.

As soon as the elimination diet identified problem foods, the patient should avoid them in the future. An experienced allergy sufferer can talk about alternatives with these foods to maintain the patient's diet balanced, diverse and pleasant. Some patients decide to eat a small amount of dangerous food rarely because they are missing and should discuss this desire with their doctors.
