What is chili?

Favorite for cookbooks and fundraisers, chili is a type of stew, which is often made with some combination of peppers, beans, meat, tomatoes and spices. Exactly what ingredients are entering into it is often discussed, but the name comes from chili peppers used in almost all versions. There are many regional recipes and traditions and many people have their own favorite recipe. This spicy stew has been known in America since the beginning of the 18th century and perhaps before. Originally it was food for those who could not afford good cuts of meat or for pioneers who go to the west. They used dried beef, fat, salt and peppers to create "chili bricks", which were then cooked on the trail.

Since then, Chuckwagon Cooks, café owners and chefs have worked throughout the United States to create a "perfect" chilli bowl. Even the basic ingredients differ, depending on where one stands in the US, some basic ingredients include minced beef, tomatoes, chili powder, salt, pepper and pepper. In Texas, however, the meat of steamed meat is often used for "red bowl" and a lot of cayenne pepper is also in the mixture. Texans also frowned at the inclusion of beans.

In Cincinnati, the famous five -way chili is equipped with chili on top of spaghetti, with beans, chopped onions and cheese. This is served in restaurants throughout the city. Food changes with the region, in some places it becomes warmer and represents more tomatoes in other cities.

Because chili peppers, onions and garlic are the basis of many recipes, it can be easily made as a vegetarian food. Many recipes include a variety of vegetables, including tomatoes, red and green peppers and corn, and almost all vegetarian peppers contain beans. Kidney and beans are common in many recipes, but Grjíst northern beans are also used.

There is a big debate about the "right" way to do it. Many people say they wouldn'tIt was supposed to include beans or tomatoes because they do not consider themselves part of a "traditional" recipe. Others argue that chili peppers are the only required component and include a huge range of other accessories such as whiskey and chocolate.

They became a gourmet feature in many restaurants, but once maintained people in the West alive during the great depression. It was cheap and the biscuits came up with every bowl. This kept the cafes open and led to an increase in popularity in the 1950s. The first recorded Chili Cook-off in 1952 at Texas State Fair in Dallas. Since then, competitions have been held every year at a national level.
